Biography

RaShayla (pronounced ruh•SHAY•la) is an actress, model, stunt performer, and journalist born in East Texas (Longview), and raised in Albuquerque, NM. Growing up, she played sports like basketball, volleyball, track and field and cheerleading as well. She was determined to play basketball in college, until a season ending knee injury, junior year, forced her to consider pursuing other passions, like writing, singing, dancing, and visual arts.

After graduating from La Cueva High School, RaShayla moved back to Texas, to attend her family’s alma mater, Texas Tech University, in Lubbock. There she majored in journalism, and served as a student assistant in Texas Tech’s Office of Athletics Communications for sports like men’s and women’s basketball and football, to name a few. RaShayla’s passion for storytelling and determination to be a great television reporter led her to take acting courses, on top of her journalism studies. She graduated from Texas Tech with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Journalism and a minor in theatre arts: acting.

Since graduating college, RaShayla has grown more acclimated to film production by working featured roles, and as a stand-in behind lead talents like Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Charlayne Woodard. She has booked principal roles in commercials, theatre, tv series, and feature films, and signed with agencies out of Los Angeles and New Mexico (see Representation for details). Driven by ambition, RaShayla dreams of starring alongside talents like Taraji P. Henson, Viola Davis, Zendaya, and her twin sister, RaSandra. She aspires to become the next sensation out of New Mexico, and star in some of the biggest productions, like Zoe Saldaña, bringing her natural grace and athleticism to her acting. With her eyes set on the top, she aims to secure lead roles and series regular positions, showcasing her triple-threat talents, and passion for action roles.

When RaShayla isn't acting, she enjoys volunteering at her old high school to work and visit with the kids, learning new skills like guitar and martial arts, brushing up old ones like dancing and singing, and staying physically active. She loves traveling to new places, taking road trips, going to amusement parks, watching all kinds of sports, and spending time with family, friends, and her dogs.
